Burning ISO Images

For those of you who have yet to figure out how to burn ISO files or want to find a great free ISO burner this guide is for you.

ImgBurn is a great free program that allows you to burn many different CD image formats. While this guide will focus on ISO files there are many other possible file types.

Step One: Download and Install ImgBurn

  • The ImgBurn site can be found here: http://www.imgburn.com/
  • Simply go to the download section and download the installer from one of the many mirrors.
  • Now install ImgBurn. (All the default installation options are fine)

Step Two: Loading The Image and Media

  • Run the ImgBurn program.
  • Once it is started you will be greeted with a screen that looks somewhat like this:ImgBurn
  • Now go to File > Browse for a file…
  • Now locate the ISO file that you want to burn. (For this guide I will be using a GParted live CD as my ISO)
  • Now Insert you burning medium (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, etc.)
  • Once ImgBurn has recognized the media some additional information will appear.

Step Three: Burning :)

  • Now that you have selected the ISO file and put in the burning media it is time to burn the cd.
  • Click on the button with the green arrow:

  • ImgBurn will now proceed to burn your ISO file to your media.

  • If verify has been checked the CD tray will pop open if it does not close automatically, close it now. ImgBurn now verifies the contents of the CD.
  • If this completes successfully a happy tune plays and a message box says that burning is complete.
  • Now just eject the CD and it is ready to go.
